Extra Light Band Exercises

Resistance bands have been an essential part of my training for years and they have many different uses. To get you started, here are some of my favourite exercises that I use almost every session.

Yuri's Rotations

An exercise I originally saw demonstrated by Yuri Marmerstein and it has been in my practice ever since. This exercise puts the shoulder through its entire range of motion, getting into all those hard to reach areas. It goes through internal and external rotation, extension and flexion; just everything. A must try.

Perform: 1-3 sets x 10-15 reps per side

Ido's Shoulder Warm Up

Understanding how to articulate the scapula is essential for being the best bodyweight athlete. This exercise helps you coordinate the arm to the torso, activating it before your training. Focus on making fluid circles progressively getting larger to move through more range of motion.

Perform: 1-3 sets x 10 reps per direction, per position

Rotation Complex

The rotator cuff are a crucial counter part to the prime movers of compounds like HSPU and chin ups. Isolating them can ensure structural balance and help keep your shoulders healthy. Adjust the intensity by moving further from the band anchor to make it harder.

Perform: 1-3 sets x 10 reps per position, per side
